Sometimes stress or anxiety can be the source of school refusal, but as a parent it can be difficult to know where to begin. Our evidence-based CBT approach focuses on the individual child or teen, focusing on their specific school situation and needs. We develop an individualized treatment plan for each client, and may recommend either group or individual therapy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
CBT is a short-term approach with long-term solutions, lasting between 6-20 sessions. We’ll help monitor your child or teen’s progress through the program, and provide them with tools that give them a tangible ability to see how they’re growing and changing from week to week.

Is your child or teen refusing to attend school or do their schoolwork? Are you unsure what to do, or what’s causing this behavior? We’ll help your child or teen to understand the strong association between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and will help them to identify the irrational thoughts that lead to school refusal and develop a strategy to rework the way they think. The goal is to change how they feel and act, bringing them closer toward acceptance of school and all that comes with it.
